Chronic
Pain / Muscle & Joint Problems:
Chronic pain is generally
defined as pain lasting more than six months. It involves symptoms that
persist beyond a normal and expected course of recovery. Chronic pain can
range from being a mild nuisance, causing one to modify or avoid certain
activities, to a severely intense pain, resulting in an inability to work.

| Intramuscular Stimulation: IMS or intramuscular stimulation is a technique developed approximately twenty years ago by Dr. Chan Gunn. The technique requires knowledge of anatomy and advanced palpation skills. Once other causes of pain has been eliminated, pain referred from muscle may be the source. Accurate identification of primary/active trigger points is essential. IMS involves using acupuncture needles to specifically target trigger points. Trigger points are local areas in a muscle that cause local and referred pain. The goal of treatment is to release shortened muscles and therefore decrease pain. No drugs are used. IMS differs from acupuncture, in that needles are inserted into specific trigger points that have been identified following exam and diagnosis. Acupuncture treatment consists of needles inserted into specific, predetermined locations.

| Urinary
Incontinence: UI is the inability to hold urine. Normally, the
bladder stores the urine that is continually produced by the kidneys,
until it is convenient to urinate. Sometimes, as a result of pregnancy,
childbirth, accidents, certain infections, diseases, or types of surgery,
this complex and delicate process is upset.
